DELHI: To enhance inbound tourism from India, Malaysia announced the launch of multiple-entry e-visa valid for 15 days.
This was announced by Mohammad Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak, Prime Minister, Malaysia, on April 1, 2017 when he called on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“I would like more Indians to visit Malaysia and I have informed the Prime Minister that we have decided on no visa fee, online application approval within 48 hours and multiple-entry e-visa to be accorded for Indian nationals,” said the Malaysian PM.
Electronic Travel Registration & Information (eNTRI) is an online registration facility provided by the Government of Malaysia to facilitate the entrance of Indian Nationals into Malaysia under the Visa Waiver Programme.
An eNTRI Note will be issued as proof of the registration and is required to be presented upon arrival in Malaysia.
eNTRI applies to all Indian Nationals in India and expatriates residing all over the world excluding Singapore. An eNTRI holder is entitled to maximum of 15 days for each visit.
With this move, Malaysia could serve as the gateway to ASEAN for Indians.
India is among the top source markets for Malaysia. Last year, the country received 540,530 Indian arrivals, between January-October, 2016. And this new service is sure to boost arrivals further to ASEAN and to Malaysia in particular.
