Maha opens tourism office in Hyderabad


Maharashtra is now wooing tourists from Andhra Pradesh as part of its efforts to go domestic.

On Friday, the State’s Department of Tourism opened its second tourist information and reservation office outside Maharashtra at the Tourist Plaza, Begumpet here.

Speaking after formally inaugurating the office, Chhagan Bhujbal, Minister of Tourism, Maharashtra, said his State was taking up a campaign across the country to attract domestic tourists.

“About 4.8 lakh domestic tourists visited Maharashtra in 2011, besides 4.8 million foreign tourists out of a total of 6.29 million who came to India,’’ he said.
