Madame Tussauds Delhi to open this June

DELHI: Madame Tussauds (MT) is all set top open in Delhi in June 2017. Internationally renowned for its wax attraction like statues of film stars, politicians and other famous people, MT Delhi will open at Delhi’s Regal Cinemain Connaught Place.

It will cover over two floors and will have over 50 wax statues to begin with. More statues will be added later. The mix of statues will comprise 60% Indian and 40% global celebrities. All figures will be made in London.

Madame Tussauds is owned by Merlin Entertainments. It plans an investment of 50 million pounds in India over the next 10 years.

Addressing a press meet, Anshul Jain, General Manager and Director, Merlin Entertainments India said, “Each wax figure will cost over INR 1.5 crore. The ticket pricing (subject to GST) will be kept standard and affordable to attract all age groups. There will be special pricing for groups and school students.”

Jain added that Merlin Entertainments also plans to bring its other brands like SeaLife and Legoland to India while expanding Madame Tussauds to new Indian cities.

Marcel Kloos, Director-New Openings, Europe and Emerging Markets, Merlin Entertainments said, “Madame Tussauds Delhi will be a great attraction for tourists. It will also be open for film shoots.”
