The Volvo bus service between New Delhi and Ludhiana has been strengthened by Punjab Roadways. It has decided to introduce two new buses on the route from July 20.
Punjab Roadways already had one such bus running everyday.
The new buses are being hired under cost per kilometer scheme (CPKS).
Under the CPKS, the roadways will pay Rs 34 per kilometer to a private transporter, handling the bus service, and the diesel cost would be borne by the government.
Operator of the bus will be in charge of maintenance, driver, and fuel being used in buses and roadways will manage the rest.
