Konkan Railway (KR) constructing 101 platform shelters and 175 concrete benches at various stations on its route.
The approximate cost of the works is Rs.85 lakhs. A KR spokesperson said, “The new passenger shelters are in addition to the existing Quota Shelters at platforms. They are more cost-effective and cover more than double the area in same cost.”
The passenger shelters are light weight and made of pre-coated GI corrugated sheet. They are modular type and the shelter can be easily expanded over the entire length of the platform and does not require any modification to the existing shelter.”
