Uneasy relations between the Chairman and the Managing Director of Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) has resulted in the ouster of the MD, N. Prashant, an IAS officer.
The Chairman, Vijayan Thomas, a political appointee, had for sometime been pressing the government to shift Prashant out. Prashanat, who also holds the charge of Additional Excise Commissioner and Director of Training and Employment, had also sought to be relieved of the KTDC role in view of the uneasy relationship with the Chairman.
KTDC, which has 72 tourism properties across the State, had a turnover of Rs. 101 crore in the last fiscal, an 11 per cent increase from the previous year. It made a profit of 1.2 crore. In the previous fiscal, the corporation had made a loss of Rs 75 lakh.
