Kedarnath all set for a new avatar


Even as rescue operations in Uttarakhand continue, the rebuilding plans are beginning to surface. The eighth century Kedarnath Mandir, which was at the epicenter of the devastation caused by flash floods and killer landslides last month, is all set to get a facelift.  

The Badrinath-Kedarnath Temples Committee (BKTC), which owns and manages the structure, is finalizing a Rs 2,000-crore master-plan to upgrade infrastructural facilities not only in and around the temple, but also on the entire pilgrim route down to Rishikesh, about 228 km downstream.
