Kanjirakkolli beckons trekkers, tourists

Alakapuri waterfalls at Kanjirakolli

KANNUR
Kanjirakkolli, a trekking point dotted with peaks and waterfalls, is opening its avenues to hail tourists from all around.

Due intervention by the Tourist Department is anticipated to change the destiny of this once neglected spot in the eastern hill region.

Situated 26 km from Iritty, Kanjirakkolli offers a panoramic view of the villages beneath and the Coorg reserve forest in Karnataka.

The area, having a popular waterfall Alakapuri and many peaks, including Kanmadappara, Sasippara, Kaimuttippara and Hanumanpara, has become a preferred destination of local sightseers.

The locale, which is yet to find a place on the tourism map of northern Malabar, has received a boost with a Rs.60-lakh project of the Tourism Department. The project envisages a tourist facilitation centre, walkway and a parking lot here.
