Jharkhand to mark Vivekananda anniversary

RANCHI: The tourism, art, culture and sports department will organize a Yuva Jagran Rath Yatra on December 21, commemorating Swami Vivekananda’s 154th birth anniversary on January 12 which is also celebrated as the National Youth Day.

swami vivekanandaThe yatra will begin from the birth place of Birsa Munda, Ulihatu and conclude at the Birsa Munda memorial in Kokar, reports The Times of India.

The procession will go on distributing books, pamphlets, calendars, folders and posters related to Swami Vivekananda to 24 districts from a rath, informs department minister, Amar Kumar bauri. “Audio and video clippings of Swami Vivekananda will also be played in every high school and colleges of the districts,” the minister added.

The rath yatra is a part of a month-long state wide campaign by the department, to celebrate the 154th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda on January 12, next year. The foundation stone for a 30-feet-high statue of Swami Vivekananda will be laid by the CM Raghubar Das on the occasion.

The statue will be set up at the island on the Ranchi Lake soon. for will be laid by chief minister on the occasion of on January 12, marking the 154th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.

Padmashree Ram V Sutar, has been given the responsibility of designing the Rs 20 crore project who had been assigned the 597 feet statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Vadodara, Gujarat, which is still under-construction.
