Private carrier Jet Airways’ flight to Chennai was delayed by over an hour on Saturday due to non-availability of pilots.
Actor Abhishek Bachchan, who was among the passengers who had boarded flight 9W 485 from Mumbai without a pilot on board, took to Twitter to highlight the delay, reports The Times of India.
“Flying to Chennai. Baggage, check. Board flight on time, check. Seat belt fastened, check. Only thing we need now are our pilots!!… Well done Jet Airways,” the actor tweeted after the flight failed to take off on time.
“Entire plane boarded without any pilots on board. Still waiting and hoping… question – if an airline is delayed, do we as passengers have the option to get off, like how passengers are off loaded if they are late?” he tweeted from the aircraft.
Our prayers have been answered. We are moving! Haven’t taken off yet so…. Fingers crossed….. Wait… Traffic congestion! Got it,” the actor said in his final tweet before the take-off.
Once the plane landed in Chennai, the actor was asked by the ground staff about his experience. “My reply to your staff was, ‘the flight was very good…. Once it took off!’ Inflight crew was great!” Bachchan said in another tweet.
A Jet Airways spokesman said, “Jet Airways flight 9W 485 from Mumbai to Chennai was delayed since the connecting flight arrived late due to air traffic congestion. We regret the inconvenience caused to our guests.”
