MUMBAI
Jet Airways (India) Ltd. said its chief executive officer Gary Kenneth Toomey resigned, about six months after the former Air New Zealand Ltd. official took the top job at the nation’s biggest publicly traded carrier.
Chief Financial Officer Ravishankar Gopalakrishnan will be the acting CEO until the company appoints a new head, Jet Airways said in a statement to the Bombay Stock Exchange today. The carrier didn’t give a reason for Toomey’s resignation.
Toomey, an Australian national, is the second CEO to quit the company since June. Mumbai-based Jet Airways, which sold a stake to Etihad Airways PJSC last year, faces rising competition as local ventures of AirAsia Bhd. and Singapore Airlines Ltd. are aiming to start flights this year.
