INDORE: There is good news for passengers as five new non-stop flights for four destinations will start from Thursday.
Leading airliner Indigo is going to start flight for Bengaluru, Raipur, Hyderabad and Delhi from the city, reports The Free Press Journal.
With this, now there will be eight flights for Delhi and two each for three other cities.
Under its policy to target Tier-2 cities, where there is great potential for growth, Indigo has rolled out five new flights from the city.
According to official information, Indigo is starting direct flights for Bengaluru and Raipur from November 24, while non-stop flights for Hyderabad and New Delhi would start from November 28.
Interestingly, Indigo already has flights for all four destinations. At present, the airliner has indirect flights for Bengaluru and Hyderabad via Nagpur. None of other airlines has direct flights for these above destinations.
At present for Delhi sector there are seven flights— three each of Indigo and Jet Airways and one from Air India. With the starting of Indigo’s two more flights, there will be a total of nine flights for New Delhi.
When contacted, the PRO of Indigo confirmed the development. Indigo is the largest airliner in India in terms of passengers with a 39.8% market share as of July 2016. The airline operates 818 daily flights to 41 destinations and is the second largest low-cost carrier in Asia.
Sources said that Jet Airways may also start a new flight for New Delhi in coming days. While travel agents are demanding for Indore-Nagpur-Chennai flight. At present Indigo has a flight for Chennai via Pune, which is attracting fewer passengers.
