DELHI: IndiGo, one of India’s leading airlines, on Thursday announced its decision to expand its operations by launching 18 new non-stop flights as part of its winter schedule on its destination network.
Six of these 18 flights will fly daily and the rest will fly on Sundays.
The airline will introduce daily flights between Amritsar and Bengaluru — the first carrier to introduce a daily service on the route. It has also announced increased frequency of flights on routes like Mumbai-Mangalore, Bengaluru-Dehradun, Delhi-Dubai, Mumbai-Lucknow and more. The only international destination to be catered in this plan is Dubai where the non-stop flight will operate only on Sundays.
The new flights will start operating from October 29, 2017 and are expected to operate till March 24, 2018.
Aditya Ghosh, president and whole time director of IndiGo, released a statement on the carrier’s expansion plan.
Ghosh said in his statement: “In line with our endeavor to meet the requirements of both business and leisure travellers, we have introduced 18 additional flights as part of the winter schedule. With the increased flow of tourists and business traffic across these sectors, IndiGo is pleased to provide additional frequencies and a direct daily flight between Amritsar and Bengaluru. We are looking at providing affordable fares on these new routes for 6E travelers. It is our constant endeavor to provide more flexibility of choice for our customers as IndiGo continues to offer them on time, hassle free and always affordable flying experience.”
