In an unexpected move, Indigo has suspended flights to Singapore from Trichy till October 26 citing operational reasons, reports The Times of India.
Indigo has not specified what the operational reasons are.
The move is likely to disrupt travel plans in the festive season. Travel agents said that the decision could not have come at a worst time. Hundreds of Tamil NRIs in Singapore would have planned to visit Trichy and surrounding districts to celebrate Diwali and for shopping.
Scoot Tiger Air has been the only airline to provide services to Singapore from Trichy for years with 14 flights a week. Considering the ever-increasing traffic in the sector, Air India Express too began operations with a daily service. The almost full seat occupancy of all the services of Scoot and Air India Express encouraged IndiGo Air to launch service in September 2018.
