Though women safety supposedly figures high on the state government’s agenda, the tourism department is yet to start the campaign, I Respect Women.
Union tourism minister K Chiranjeevi at a national conference in Delhi on July 18 had asked all states to start a massive awareness campaign with ‘I Respect Women’ slogan to ensure safety of tourists, especially women.
Sources said people involved in the tourism sector, including hoteliers, tour operators, guides, taxi and auto-rickshaw drivers and other stakeholders, were asked to wear ‘I Respect Women’ badges.
