A notice has been issued to the owners of 32 hotels by the Kanpur district magistrate and regional tourism department asking them to register their establishment under the Sarai Act, 1867 within eight days. All establishments failing to register are liable to be closed.
As per the Sarai Act, the hotels are a place of tourism importance. All the hoteliers in every town are supposed to submit a copy of the trade licence to the district administration as a proof of their work. The registration documents also includes a no-objection certificate from the fire and emergency services department and from the Pollution Control Board.
