HYDERABAD
Gujarat, increasingly being promoted as a happening State, has registered an increase in tourist arrivals by 5.4 million in the past two years, since the ‘Khushboo Gujarat Ki’ campaign was launched with Amitabh Bachchan as brand ambassador, said its Principal Secretary-Tourism, Vipul Mitra.
Speaking to presspersons at a Gujarat Tourism road show here on Saturday, he said in the same period, the number of rooms across the State went up to 64,000 from 45,000.
The campaign with Big ‘B’ reaching out to people continued to make a deep impression of the State in the minds of people as an important destination, he said. Gujarat provided the best connectivity for tourists, Mr. Mitra said, pointing out that all 18,000 villages in the State boasted Internet, apart from a 24/7 helpline exclusively for tourists being put in place.
