In a recent tv ad put out by union ministry of tourism, a women traveller from abroad is harassed by two men in an auto before another autodriver comes to her rescue. The ad ends with the catchline: Atithi Devo Bhava (Guest is God). For most foreign tourists in the capital, especially women, nothing could be further from the truth.
Most women tourists in central Delhi that TOI spoke to complained of constant harassment and the need to be on guard at all times when it comes to walking alone or staying out at night.
