Goa tourism MoUs failed by 6 states

PANAJI
The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India has found that six states failed to honour their memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) about displaying the link of GTDC website on their online sites.

To create new revenue channels, the GTDC decided in April 2010 to tie-up with other state tourism development corporations of India. GTDC entered into six MoUs with other tourism development corporations. The key features of the MoUs were mutual marketing of hotel accommodation, providing marketing space mutually at respective sale counters, providing of hyperlinks on respective websites etc.

The CAG report has observed that none of the commitments and activities was operationalized during the period 2010-12. The websites of other corporations did not advertise any links of GTDC and vice-versa. Free marketing counters and dedicated user-ID and passwords were not provided resulting in non-achievement of the intended benefits.
