Although there are several scenic tourist spots in Garhwa district, drawing crowd even from the neighbouring states, the state tourism department is apathetic towards the upkeep and maintenance of the sites.
There are a dozen of picnic spots in Ranka, Bhandaria, Dhurki, Kandi and Chinia blocks which could well be developed into tourist centres. Among them, Sukhaldari waterfalls, Gurusendhu waterfalls, Anraj Dam and Banda Hills witness huge footfall during this season, every year.
Sukhaldari waterfall in Dhurki block is a picnic spot surrounded by a scenic landscape. Situated on the banks of Kanhar River, in the midst of high hills and thick forests, the place draws huge crowds from within the district and also from neighbouring states of Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh. Devotees in large numbers also visit the place on the eve of Makarsankranti.
