Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh is likely to announce a grant for filming foreign films at scenic locations in the state as per reports in the media. The state will pay upto 50% of the cost or Rs 3.25 crore per film shot in the state said the state’s Principal Secretary for Information, Tourism and Religious Affairs, Navneet Shegal. The initiative is part of the efforts to promote UP as a tourism destination.
Sehgal will also lead a tourism delegation to ITB Asia 2016. He said that a similar grant is in place for Indian films shot in the state for the past two years. About 100 Indian films were being shot in Uttar Pradesh currently he said.
UP has set a target of increasing tourist to the state by 20% a year. In 2015, the state received 2.5 million foreign tourists and 30 million domestic tourists. Famour locations in Up include the iconic Taj Mahal, The Ghats of Varanasi, Bara Imambara in Lukcnow and many more.
