CHANDIGARH: The international airport at Mohali wore a deserted look due to suspension of all flights on Sunday.
The repair work of the runway is going on here, reports The Tribune.
It was the third time in the past one month when the airport remained closed for the entire day for the repair of the runway.
Usually, the airport witnesses a total of 36 flights that take off and land here daily.
Earlier, the operations were suspended on March 19 and April 2 (all Sundays) and before that the airport had remained closed to all flights after 1 pm on the first and third Sundays of every month.
A senior officer of the airport said, the decision of closing down the airport was taken by the Airport Authority of India.
According to sources, the repair of the runway was on to upgrade the aircraft landing system here. “All the flight operations will start at the airport from tomorrow”, said the sources.
