Around 80 sovereigns of gold in a checked-in suitcase at the Mumbai airport’s Jet Airways counter, was allegedly found missing after the flier opened the baggage upon reaching home here on Friday.
After Nithya Mahadevan lodged a complaint with the Chennai airport police, they examined CCTV footage on the premises and found nothing to suggest pilferage at the airport here. They asked the complainant to contact the Mumbai police, following which she did and lodged a complaint.
“Nithya Mahadevan did not make any declaration about the valuables in the suitcase during check-in at the Jet Airways counter in Mumbai. We have not filed an FIR, but have registered the complaint in the Community Service Register,” said a police officer of the Airport station.
