IDUKKI: More amenities will be provided at hydel tourism centres to attract tourists, Electricity Minister M.M. Mani has said.

Basic facilities needed to be arranged to attract more tourists, he said.

Mr. Mani said the KSEB quarters at Cheruthoni would be modernised to provide facilities to tourists. “Idukki dam is a major attraction and the surrounding areas have scope to boost tourism,” he said.

Joice George, MP, said a dam museum and an aquarium of international standards near Vyshali Cave were on the anvil.

This, he said, would attract more foreign tourists while economically benefiting the local community. Roshy Augustine, MLA, presided over the function.
