To attract more tourists to the city and realize the deputy chief minister”s vision for Ludhiana, GLADA (Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority) has proposed a plan to develop “Ludhiana Downtown” in the city. The area which has been selected for the downtown is the PSPCL (Punjab State Power Corporation Limited) land situated on Ferozepur Road near Nanaksar Gurdwara, beside Sidhwan Canal.
According to GLADA officials, the idea behind finalizing the land of PSPCL is that if structures like malls and amusement parks are developed, then the canal can be a beautiful backdrop. The authority is planning to move ahead with the idea of developing amusement parks, malls, shopping complexes, offices and even residential areas or corporate apartments. Being located on the busiest road of the city, the value of PSPCL land is worth rupees hundreds of crores. For any plan to be taken up seriously, it needs plenty of consultations before beginning the operations.
