Dipak Deva takes over as WTTCII Chairman


MUMBAI
Dipak Deva, CEO-Destination Management (India & South Asia), Kuoni Destination Management has taken over as the Chairman of World Travel & Tourism Council India Initiative (WTTCII) for 2014.  He succeeds Priya Paul, Chairperson, Apeejay Surrendra Park Hotels.  Manav Thadani, Chairman of HVS South Asia will be the new Vice Chairman of WTTCII.  The change of guard at WTTC India Chapter was announced after the Annual General Meeting of the Council in New Delhi.

When asked about his priorities as Chairman, Deva said that WTTC follow an “agenda” which is an “ongoing” one, encompassing all the segments of the travel and tourism industry. He said that the prominent issues are fuel taxation in the aviation sector, infrastructure status for hospitality sector, and visa related issues to the travel sector. “Our role is to sensitise the governments at the Centre and the states on how tourism can play the role of an economic igniter,” he said.
