DELHI: Delhi will play host to India’s first Adventure Sports Expo, which will be held between January 27 and 29 at Four Points by Sheraton hotel.
Organised by RN Sports Marketing in collaboration with Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI), it will see around 60 adventure gear brands from across the globe exhibiting their products.
The organisers are expecting around 500 delegates from both India, South Asia and other parts of the world participating in the three-day exhibition and conference.
Several trade bodies – national and international – are backing the event, along with some well-known experts who will be seen at the expo.
A curtain raiser meeting was held in Delhi on January 12 to give highlights of the AdventureSports Expo Asia 2018.
Suman Billa, joint secretary of the Ministry of Tourism; Rishi Narain; Ajeet Bajaj; and others spoke of the prospects of taking adventure sports and tourism to the next level.
Rishi Narain, Founder & MD, RN Sports Marketing said that the objective behind the show is to promote India and Indian adventure to Indian people. “We will also have an activity zone where we will have zip lining, wall climbing, sky-diving machine, segway, etc. within the constraints of space,” he said. He said that experts in adventure sports from across the globe will be participating and sharing their experiences.
“We are all excited that after a long time the country is celebrating adventure sports and tourism,” said Ajeet Bajaj, MD of Snow Leopard Adventures, and a key functionary of ATOAI.
He said that the expo will go a long way in bringing international best practices to India and making India the next Adventure Travel hub of the world.
The government had earlier declared 2018 as the year of adventure tourism.
