Decision to retender Azhikkal terminal project draws flak

KANNUR
The state government’s decision to retender the bulk cement terminal project at Azhikkal for the third time has come as a shock for many, who had lobbied for it and they feel the delay might result in the project being abandoned.

“The move to retender the project is ridiculous because ministers P K Kunhalikutty and K Babu had repeatedly said that this time the tender would be approved though there was only one bidder. If they backtrack from it, that would affect the people’s faith in our ministers,” said K Vinod Narayanan, president of the North Malabar Chamber of Commerce, while responding to the TOI report that the government is retendering the project.
