Colour of change for Marine Drive?

MUMBAI

If this one proposal (notice of motion) from a city corporator materialises, the look of Marine Drive will not be the same. Chief of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) improvement committee Ram Barot has moved a notice of motion, insisting that the buildings along the iconic 4.3km long Queen’s Necklace be painted in a uniform colour. He has also demanded the installation of a new lighting system along the road to give it a spectacular look during the night.

“During my recent visit to Shanghai, I saw buildings along a river where there were lights installed of different colours. This gave a spectacular look to the area in the night. If we pursue residents of Marine Drive into doing similar activities, this will not only improve the beauty of this iconic location, but reflect in an increase in tourism. Locals need not light up the area throughout the night, but maybe for at least two-three hours,” Barot said.
