“Wow”; “thrilling”; “splendid”. These were the first words of many after a whirlwind helicopter ride over Hampi, a world heritage site and the erstwhile seat of Vijayanagar Empire.
For the first time, the organisers of Hampi Utsav — a three-day mega cultural festival of dance, music and drama — hired two helicopters to show ‘Hampi-by-sky’ to show visitors to the festival the aerial view of Hampi. And the ride surely blew the visitors away!
“I had seen all Hampi’s monuments. I enjoyed the gigantic monoliths, the art and architecture of each monument. But it was so thrilling to see all the important monuments from the top; it gave me a new perspective,” said Arpita from Bellary, who took the chopper ride.
