Chedi’s maiden India hotel to open in Mumbai

MUMBAI: The soft opening of India’s first Chedi property, by Mumbai’s Powai Lake, is slated to take place in late 2016.

Singapore-based General Hotel Management Ltd (GHM) is the venture partner of Mumbai-based real estate firm Rajesh LifeSpaces, which is bringing the brand to Mumbai, reports FnB News.

The inking of the management agreement was close on the heels of the strategic partnership for deepening the relationship between India and Singapore, and represented a milestone for each of the parties.

Expressing his optimism about the project, Hans R Jenni, director and president, stated, “We have always wanted to plan a GHM flag in India, and being able to establish The Chedi brand in the thriving city of Mumbai is an honour as well as a challenging opportunity my team and I are eager to face.”

Rajesh Patel, managing director, Rajesh LifeSpaces, said, “Our collaboration with GHM is a union of resources that will maximise the potential for this hotel. The GHM team is not only providing hotel management expertise.”

“Their concept for The Chedi Mumbai is one that will metamorphose the current landscape and create a new buzz for lifestyle and quality dining in general,” he added.

The hotel will have five restaurants. Jenni stated, “The food and beverage offerings will set The Chedi apart from the rest of the competition, as it is the demand for quality gastronomy which will drive locals, expatriates and travellers to this new culinary utopia.”
