THRUVANANTHAPURAM: As many as 292 modern CCTV cameras, including 10 with built-in facial recognition facility, will be installed at the Guruvayur Sreekrishna temple, Devaswom Minister Kadakampally Surendran has said.
Mr. Surendran told Guruvayur Devaswom president N. Peethambara Kurup and other members who called on him here on Monday that the cameras costing Rs. 5 crore would be installed in 90 days, reports The Hindu.
The cameras would be monitored on a video wall. This would also help to find out women and children who get lost in the crowd. The cameras also have a security alert mechanism.
The meeting decided to set up a tourist facilitation centre, a tourist amenity centre and a multi-level car parking facility.
