Elections invariably prove to be a catalyst for bright ideas from candidates. Their short-term goal may be to capture the imagination of their electorate but some ideas can certainly do with more serious examination.
One of these is the suggestion of Farhan Azmi, the Samajwadi Party candidate from Mumbai North-Central, that Bandra be developed as a tourist destination, though another one of his other poll promises — Rs 1 lakh worth of free slippers for his poorer constituents — may find more immediate takers.
