Boost for Fort Kochi heritage project

KOCHI
There have been scores of projects over the years to conserve the rich heritage of Fort Kochi. Despite such efforts, the tourist hotspot has not seen much progress. In the latest such move, the state government has given administrative sanction to the Rs 10-crore renovation project of the tourism department.

The project will undertake seven major works, including the development of St Francis Church Road and footpath, renovation of Parade Ground, Jawahar Park, Santa Cruz Road, Herschel’s Walk and conservation of Chinese fishing nets and Vasco da Gama Square.

Dominic Presentation MLA, who represents Fort Kochi, said the project has been included in MLA’s local area development scheme.
