MUMBAI
The BMC has objected to the tourism development plan’s suggestion to shift the city’s zoo, a prime tourist attraction in the city, from Byculla to Aarey Milk Colony in Goregaon.
The tourism development plan for the city was prepared by a special committee, headed by municipal commissioner Sitaram Kunte and comprises officials from the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation.
But the BMC has said it is already in the process of redeveloping the zoo to make it world-class. “We have objected to the committee’s suggestion as all the procedures and permissions to develop the zoo have been put in place,” said standing committee chairman Rahul Shewale.
