The AP Tourism Development Corporation has come up with a mega tourism project at a cost of Rs 60 crore along the course of Godavari river from Bhadrachalam to Konaseema to develop infrastructure and promote cruising on the river for the benefit of tourists.
The tourism authorities have carried out a survey along the river course beginning from Bhadrachalam and up to the point where the river empties into the Bay of Bengal at Antarvedi in Konaseema region in East Godavari and also at Yanam, a union territory. They intend to promote temple tourism also as several ancient temples are located along the course of the river on its islands and banks.
Beginning from Bhadrachalam, the tourists can visit Srirama Giri, Coonavaram, Perantalapalli, which accommodates the popular Papi Hills, Devipatnam, Pochamma temple and Pattiseema. These popular destinations are the abode of several deities.
