According to statistics from Airports Authority of India (AAI), the government-owned operator of the facility, Chennai airport posted a combined (international and domestic) passenger traffic growth of only 0.9% in 2013-14. Compare this to airports in Bangalore (7.3%), Mumbai (6.7%), Delhi (7.3%) and Hyderabad (4.3%) and Kochi (10%) in the same period and you have a fair idea of Chennai airport.
