Around 300 private shack operators will have to forfeit their bank guarantee for failing to remove their structures even after the tourism season ended on May 31.
While each of them will forfeit 10,000, the shack operators will not be debarred for a period of three years, even though the tourism department had warned them of such action earlier.
A tourism department official said that they had put forward a file before the government seeking permission to take strict action against private shack operators but got the go-ahead only to forfeit their bank guarantees.
