20,000 devotees to visit Srirangam

TIRUCHIRAPALLI:  Elaborate arrangements have been made for the Cauvery Maha Pushkaram that begins on Tuesday.

It will be celebrated for 12 days from September 12 to September 23, reports The Hindu.

It is estimated that at least 20,000 devotees across the country mainly from Andhra Pradesh and Telengana are expected to visit Srirangam daily.

The organisers have lined up various programmes including homams, special pujas and cultural events.

Though the festival is being viewed as a private one, the district administration conducted a review meeting a few days ago to discuss the steps to be taken for providing amenities to the devotees.

A senior official said that Tiruchi Corporation, Public Health, police, Public Works Department, Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments and Tourism have been asked to provide necessary facilities to the devotees.
