2 held with 1kg gold at Amritsar airport

AMRITSAR: Custom officials at Sri Guru Ram Das International Airport have seized 1kg gold from two passengers, who had arrived here from Dubai.

Commissioner (customs) Dipak Kumar Gupta told the newspersons that after receiving a tip off, the custom officials had intercepted two passengers, who had arrived from Dubai via Delhi, and recovered 1,009 grams of rhodium-coated gold wires that were concealed in their suitcases.

The commissioner has not divulged names of the passengers. Gupta added that the gold was valued at around Rs 30 lakh.
