The Directorate of Tourism Jammu in collaboration with Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya (Bhopal), will organizing five day Baisakhi Festival from 12 to 16 April, 2014 at Mubarak Mandi, Raghunath Bazar, Rajinder Bazar and Veer Marg said the Divisional Commissioner Jammu Shantmanu at a press conference held at Jammu.
The inaugural ceremony shall take place at Kanak Mandi at 11 a.m followed by Jhanki, Kud Dance and other cultural events by cultural troops. Tanga ride, special exhibition on Heritage at Mubarak Mandi, ethnic food stalls are major attractions of the event besides a wrestling competition, arti at Jia Potha Ghat in Akhnoor, golf tournament at Sidhra golf course are other events of the Baisakhi Festival. Renowned singers Radhika Chopra and Taniya Gupta would also perform on April 16, the Divisional Commissioner informed.
A craft mela with folk and tribal artists from Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Gujarat, Assam, Manipur and J&K will demonstrate and sale their traditional craft products too will take place. In addition to this, cultural programmes will be organized by artists within and outside the state at Mubarak Mandi from April 13 to 16 from 7.30 onwards.
