10 coastal sites to be developed for tourism

The state government is planning to develop and promote coastal 10 sites for tourism.

Chairman of Gujarat Tourism Corporation Ltd Kamlesh Patel said here on Tuesday that the government is planning to spend Rs 120 crore to develop the necessary infrastructure at these locations.

Citing central government data, he also claimed that the growth of tourism in the state was 13 per cent as compared to the national average growth rate of 6.7 per cent.

Patel was in the city to give details about the Tarnetar fair scheduled to begin on September 8.

Tarnetar fair is the oldest and a unique festival of Saurashtra because of its religious significance in the region.

This year the fair will be held from September 8 to 11 in Tarnetar, 65 km from Surendranagar.
